OCS compatible enables us to talk to Microsoft’s Office Communication Server system which is a collaboration server that talks mostly to their soft clients but can also interface with IPBX’s so they can talk to IP phones that aren’t OCS compatible and for SIP trunking support.

pbxnsip - Reason 30 - PAC
PAC or Personal Attendant Console is a software-based client that enables users to see who is talking on the system and to be able to do things like drag and drop calls, see their missed calls, configure their settings, make calls from their address book, import their outlook address book, view their ACD groups, remind themselves of the systems feature codes like park is *85.
There is also a web based attendant console being developed so the front desk or call answerer can see the whole companies phone status of up to 100 phones on one screen.

pbxnsip - Reason 29 - Call Detail Records
Call Detail Records (CRD)can be emailed every day or sent to the billing server.
CDR's are critical to some companies that need to do billing or to keep track of employees. While we don't offer a billing solution we do partner with some vendors to fill that void and we ensure the system sends out CDR's after each phone call via SOAP, TCP and even email.
CDR's are also kept on the system for retrieval as well.

pbxnsip - Reason 28 - Plug n Play Phone Support
Plug n Play (PnP) Phone support enables the installer or novice to be able to plug in the phones and then play instead of plugging them in and praying they work!
PnP lets the system automatically update the software, configure the SIP settings, download the directory, the address book, the buddy list or Busy Lamp Fields and even the buttons on some of the phones.

pbxnsip - Reason 27 - Multiple operating system support
Multiple operating system support is paramount for us to be able to satisfy our customers needs that want to run their software on the operating system they want to run it on.
Windows 2000, XP-Home or Pro, Vista, 2003/2008 server, and now Windows 7 as well as compilations of 5 flavors of Linux (Debian, CentOS, RedHat, SuSe and Ubuntu), FreeBSD ( yes it is different than Linux!), and the Mac OS X. No other company can claim this level of breadth for OS support.

pbxnsip - Reason 26 - VM Support
Virtual Machine support enables our customers to run the software on virtual machines so they can consolidate servers and save on resources.
Virtual Machines also have inherent failover when done properly so you don't have to worry about having another server dedicated to the PBX the VM Farm takes care of it. One must ensure that it is a real virtual machine that you can bind one core to one instance of pbxnsip and an OS. This ensures your audio streams will not be impeded by the OS. The small memory footprint makes it possible to failover within a second, not loosing a call or even a TCP/TLS connection! That Rocks!

pbxnsip - Reason 25 - Open hardware support
Open hardware support enables our customers to choose the h/w platform they like whether it be a Dell/ IBM /HP or server from the computer guy down the street. PC based servers are coming down in price and getting more powerful and reliable. A terabyte disk drive is now $100 and can hold countless hours of call recordings and voicemails. The Intel Atom processor is also making the computer landscape interestging.

pbxnsip - Reason 22 - Call center features
Call center features are a must today since every company is a mini call center.
How intimidating is it when we hear your call maybe recorded for customer service is heard when you call a company. Now you can be that company! Or how about listening in on a call or using the barge and teach mode features of the system to increase productivity. Call Barge is a great productivity tool when someone is on a call and needs help. A simple IM instructing someone to jump in the call is much easier than putting the call on hold and calling that person. Agent groups or waiting queues enable customers hold on for service instead of leaving a voicemail and calling back.

pbxnsip - Reason 21 - High scalability
High scalability is a must today. In the old TDM system what did one do if they purchased a 4*16 system and the 17th person joined the company or they needed a 5th trunk? They needed to get the fork lift out and remove the PBX and get another one! However with a modern VoIP communications system it is as simple as putting a new key in to add the necessary extensions or potentially adding a PSTN daughter card.

pbxnsip - Reason 20 - Feature Rich
Feature rich –
We have over hundres of features in the product and are constantly listening to our customers by adding more.
Granted that may not be as many as some of the legacy based PBX based systems but we are getting there and are operating in Internet time. We offer many features the legacy systems can’t provide like presence and we are quickly adding features like Video that they never could do. Other features like conferencing, call recording, whisper and barge were also very rare on non-call center specific systems.

pbxnsip - Reason 19 - Fully Interoperable
Fully Interoperable
This makes pbxnsip the voice communications platform of choice. Our resellers and customers have a choice on what handsets to use as well as what gateways and service providers they can integrate with. Some customers love or hate a particular IP phone or provider and by providing a choice everyone is happy. Standards like SIP is the glue that enables us to do this.

pbxnsip - Reason 18 - Great ROI
Great ROI!
Cost justifying any new expense today is crucial in today's tough economic times. pbxnsip changed their pricing model and added a basic edition to help customers who didn’t need advanced features to be able to afford a great entry level VoIP system without breaking the bank.
We also introduced monthly extension based pricing for our service providers who couldn’t afford to purchase a hosted license. We are also looking at other creative pricing models to enable you to only pay for the software you need a la carte.

pbxnsip - Reason 17 - Key system emulation
Key system emulation support allows our users to not have to learn new things if they have come from a key system environment.
They can put a call on hold and see the button flash on all the phones then pick it up from any phone by hitting that line button without having to learn park/pickup.
Granted this feature only works with snom phones but we have shared the specification with other phone and pox vendors to fill gaps left by the standards bodies.

pbxnsip - Reason 15 - Strong technical partnerships
Strong technical partners, let’s face it we can’t do everything ourselves and we rely on our technical partners to fill in the product gaps that are not our core competency so we can focus on what we do best.
Our technical partners include faxback software to help satisfy our customers faxing needs. Estos to help us with click to dial, presence, and instant messaging leveraging our CSTA support. Comptrol/Executek to handle our hospitality needs when we explore into the hospitality industry. Sangoma takes care of our customers PSTN interconnection needs by providing interfaces to Alexander Graham Bells network. Globalscale technologies to enable us to enter the wonderful world of plug computing. Vertical technologies and Metropolis to help fulfill our billing needs. Voiceoperator.com to do just that. Portech GSM gateways to interface with the cellular networks that are growing so fast.
The phone vendors are also critical to our success. Snom and Polycom to name a few.

pbxnsip - Reason 14 - We Own The Source Code
We own the code
We are not depending on ever-changing open source projects or third-party libraries. If there is a problem, we can fix it inhouse and if there is a new feature request, we can add it.
We have done this over several years already.

pbxnsip - Reason 13 - White Label
White Label VoIP –
Our customers like to put their logo on the system which makes them feel like the system is theirs.
It also helps us in the OEM arena and with service providers who want to hide where they get their special sauce from. Besides being able to change the logo we also let our customers change the user agent setting on the sip messages so it can say their name with our version number to further label the system with their name even on the Ethernet cable!
