Trunk Providers
A trunk is a way of communicating between the IP PBX and the outside world. The outside world could be a gateway, ITSP SIP trunk, another IP PBX, Microsoft Exchange 2007, Microsoft OCS.
Trunks can be registered if required to the other party.
pbxnsip offers the benefit of being an Open standard SIP application meaning that the software can be used with any SIP Trunk Provider using PURE SIP protocol.
Why is this a benefit? You can pick and choose the best package for you. Most providers charge per trunk so generally there is a monthly Trunk line rental plus the cost for IP minutes however this is where you can save money over traditional methods of billing in TDM minutes.
Remote Sites
You can also trunk between to remote sites within your network meaning that all calls on net are free calls to local extansions. This is a great benefit for Multi National organisations and branch based localities.
